Hello WCU Students:

We’re writing today on behalf of WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing to provide a last reminder that the 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application Process opens for both housing providers (WCU Managed & USH Affiliated) on this coming Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am (EST).

WCU Managed

If you’re interested in living in WCU Managed housing, please complete an application during the application period beginning Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am and closing Friday, January 12, 2024, at 12:00pm. All students who apply during the application period will receive a random time slot assignment in mid-to-late January 2024.

USH Affiliated

Students interested in USH Affiliated housing will receive the housing application based on the order in which USH receives their request for housing and is received, on a first come first served basis.

Hello WCU Students:

We’re writing today on behalf of WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing to provide more information about the 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application Process that opens for both housing providers (WCU Managed & USH Affiliated) on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am (EST).

While WCU Managed and USH Affiliated have separate processes, both providers utilize similar language. See below more specific information regarding Roommate Matching and Time Slot Assignments as you prepare for 2024-2025 Housing Self-Selection.

WCU Managed

Roommate Matching

After you submit your application, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Roommate Matching process. Students who match through the roommate matching process will be able to select housing with their preferred roommate. To access the Roommate Matching process, please follow the instructions below.

• Log in to myWCU
• Click Personal Information tab
• Click myHOUSING on the left side of the page
• Click Roommate Matching

If you have a preferred roommate, simply search for your preferred roommates’ name. If your preferred roommate submitted a housing application, you will be able to match. If you do not have a preferred roommate, you can search for one with the steps below.

• Filter by Desired Living Preferences
• Utilize match results to communicate with potential match
• Email your match to connect
• Once a match is confirmed, enter your preferred roommate into the roommate matching process by searching their name and matching

Time Slot Assignment

Any student who applies during the application period will receive a time slot assignment in late January 2024. You will be able to login into the myHousing Portal and self-select for the 2024-2025 academic year at the specific time indicated by your time slot assignment or any time thereafter.

Hello WCU Students:

We're writing today on behalf of WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing to provide more information about the 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application Process that opens for both housing providers (WCU Managed & USH Affiliated) on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am (EST).

As you think about which housing provider, you'd like to live with in 2024-2025, keep in mind that while they offer different opportunities, USH and WCU Managed housing have many similarities.

Top 5 Similarities between USH and WCU Managed Housing:

1. Both offer residences in convenient locations across North and South campus.
2. Housing options are available at varying price points.
3. All utilities (laundry, internet, electricity, water, heating/cooling, and trash disposal) and furniture are included in the cost.
4. Trained support staff are on site 24/7 to assist with student needs.
5. All residences were designed with community-building and engagement in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I able to apply to both housing providers?

Yes, but application processes are separate and there is a housing fee ($200 for each provider) associated with each provider that must be paid for separately.

When do I choose a meal plan? How much are meal plans?

Meal plan selection will occur in the Spring 2024 semester. Meal plan rates have not yet been approved for 2024-2025. Once available, rates may be viewed here: HOUSING RATES. Please note that all residents living on North campus are required to have a Purple, Gold, or Ultimate meal plan: View Meal Plans.

We’re writing today on behalf of WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing to provide more information about the 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application Process that opens for both housing providers (WCU Managed and USH Affiliated) on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am (EST).

What happens if I miss the application period?

The WCU Managed Housing Application closes on January 12, 2024, at 12:00pm (EST). Students who miss the application period will be able to submit a Request to House application through the myHousing portal in myWCU beginning at 12:01pm on January 12, 2024. Students who submit this application will be placed on the Request to House list and be provided housing as it becomes available according to their submission date.

I need a housing accommodation and I am applying to WCU Managed Housing, where do I start?

Housing accommodations are special considerations made for students with medical/disability-related conditions, that include, but are not limited to documented mental health disabilities, mobility/physical disabilities, and other disabilities that warrant accommodations to promote success.

Students planning to live in WCU Managed housing should contact the Office of Educational Accessibility (OEA) to document their needs. To have accommodations considered in the Housing Selection Process, OEA approval letters should be sent to WCU Managed Housing by Friday, January 19, 2024.

What are the steps in the Housing Selection Process?

1. 1. Apply during the application period and pay the deposit.
   2. Login to the myHousing Portal in myWCU to complete roommate matching. a. You can match with friends you already know. b. You can converse with other students looking for a roommate in 2024-2025. c. Then, you’ll mutually agree to live together and inform WCU Managed of your preferred roommate choice for 2024-2025.
   3. Check your email for your randomly generated time slot assignment.
   4. Login to the myHousing Portal in myWCU at the assigned time slot to look at available 2024-2025 housing options.
      a. You will only be able to see available options at your time slot assignment.
      b. You should have a contingency plan as your first, second, or third choice may no longer be available.
      c. If you have a roommate match/group, the student in the group with the earliest time slot assignment will be able to select housing for the entire group.
   5. Complete your housing selection and look for your confirmation email.

USH Affiliated Housing

I need a housing accommodation and I am applying to USH Affiliated, where do I start?

Any student who needs a housing accommodation or assistance animal and is applying to USH can submit the USH Accommodation Form via the USH Resident Portal once you are in the application process. Please review USH’s policies for more information.

How to apply for WCU Managed Housing

The WCU Managed Returning Student Housing Application will be open from 9:00am on December 18, 2023, until 12pm on January 12, 2024. The application will be available in myWCU, in the myHousing Portal.

Is WCU Managed Housing first come, first served?

No. All students who submit an application during the open application period will receive a randomly generated time slot to register for housing in mid-to-late January. Housing is not guaranteed during this process and is based on availability. Students will select housing in the order of their randomly generated time slot assignment, earliest time slot selects first.

USH Affiliated Housing

How to apply for USH Affiliated Housing

The USH request for housing application will open at 9:00am on December 18, 2023. Applications will be sent to students in the order that their request for housing is received, 48-72 business hours after USH receives the request.

Is USH Affiliated Housing first come first served?

Application – Yes. Students will receive the housing application based on the order in which USH receives their request for housing. Students must complete the process through lease signing in the required communicated time.

Room Self-Selection – No. Timeslots for room self-selection will be randomly assigned based on the size of the roommate group.

Items to Consider

1. WCU Managed and USH Affiliated have two separate applications, processes, and fees. Both providers charge a separate $200, non-refundable fee to complete your application. Students who submit applications with both providers will be expected to pay both fees.
2. We encourage you to explore all your housing options, both on-campus and off-campus. Students who are interested in off-campus housing should contact the Off Campus and Commuter Services department.

We’re writing today on behalf of WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing to announce the opening of the 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application Process on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 9:00am. Please make a note of this in your calendar.

As you explore housing choices as a returning student, we encourage you to consider the options that are open to you. This includes exploring both on-campus housing providers--WCU Managed Housing and USH Affiliated Housing—as well as nearby off-campus options.

Between now and December 18th you can expect weekly updates related to the Housing Application Process via your WCU email. Weekly updates will include information about the application, roommate matching, housing self-selection and tips to navigate the process for each provider.
